Friday Fragments- BEWARE

I have been waiting for this all damn week! My mind has been so sporadic this week! Now - you must pay...

  • Thanks so much for all the nice words of encouragement about my blog identity crisis yesterday. I feel very reassured that there are people out there that want to read my not so much of a mommy blog, rambles and inadequacies in general and don't worry- I will never scrapbook- you have my word!

  • I am delighted to hop around blogs this morning and find talk of politics- I LOVE IT! You've finally come to the dark side- welcome! Although there are many differing opinions that don't agree with me (which means they're wrong because I'm always right)- I love an educated informed political banter and I can take anyone that disagrees with me- I've been working out! I KID, sort of, I mean, I could probably take you down and I have been working out, but I probably wouldn't shake you down over your political ignorance opinions.

  • I don't want to get political, you know where I stand, but can I just tell you something that has made me want to freaking claw someone's eyes out... Ok , I was a Hillary supporter. My kids knew this- if you haven't noticed- I'm not shy about sharing my political views. My 9 year old daughter has had conversations with her classmates (Catholic school+NUTTY Pro Life parents+ me, relatively liberal =the devil). My daughter mentioned my vote was going for Hillary (and now Obama) and these are actual signs of brainwashing quotes she has come home with from 4Th graders...They start out, my mom and dad said..."Obama is one of those guys that blew up those buildings", "Obama's wife hates Americans" and, my favorite..."Hilary is going to kill all the babies"- WHAT THE FUCK, PEOPLE??? Be Pro Life- knock yourself out, seriously, I think that's great, but last I checked, NO ONE IS PRO ABORTION! And what's with the death penalty and stem cell researched being lumped into the same category? I've heard there are some people trying to throw "birth control" into that umbrella, as well. How about ugly people being thrown in, too. Since they're ugly, they probably won't be getting laid, thus NOT procreating- the fucking nerve of ugly people!

  • On the lighter side, for the 2 of you who stayed, I've lost 4 LBS!!! WOO HOO! I have been running 3 miles a day (which after that rant- I may just have to practice running a little faster to escape the people that hate me!) I also do 30 minutes of weights and strength training - so if they catch me- I can take them.

  • I missed the debates last night because I had to go to a meeting for my son's high school. He is in 8Th grade and attends a Catholic school. I don't know if this is common, but in St. Louis, Catholic high school is kind of a big deal (and freaking expensive!) It is a point of contention with me. Recap: we started them at Catholic school because we lived in the city and St. Louis City Public schools are shit unaccredited. When we moved to a community with an outstanding school district, we were sort of afraid of the unknown and stuck with the Catholic education (oh yeah, and we are Catholic). Now that high school is upon us, we have a decision to make: stick with Catholic and go broke or send him to public which I, must admit, concerns us, too. He has been a bit sheltered, if you will, in the "cocoon" that is Catholic school. Though I don't have anything against public schools (frankly, I don't really know much about them as I went to Catholic, too), he's the type of student that needs to be , how do I say... reminded coddled a fire lit under his ass! My impression of public school is that they have AWESOME resources and can be absolutely ideal if you take advantage of what is offered. I don't trust that he would do that. To complicate matters, he really wants to go to a Catholic school. I can't blame him- that's where all of his friends will be going. So I'm looking at schools that are upwards of $10,000 a year and praying for two things: his grades are decent enough that they don't laugh at his application and that they pity our income and become very generous with financial aid!!!

What concerns me even more than children at school is TEACHERS who feel they have the right to promote their candidate to my child on school time. November 4th is coming. You'll all get to cast your one vote. Until then could we all just settle down?

I just stopped by because I saw your picture over at Ann Again and I exlaimed out loud "That girl has the cutest hair, like ever!" I just had to come by and tell you that.

Also, the debates last night? Not so much of an event as I thought they might be. I was a little disappointed, then relieved, then upset, then I was just disappointed again. One I get through the denial and acceptance phases I should be just fine.

I was (still am) a Hilary supporter. I can not believe that 4th graders are calling her a baby killer. They've obviously heard it from their parents.

May be one advantage to public schools...more Democrats! :)

I had cereal this morning and thought of you.

I am so proud that you lost FOUR pounds. I found them and am sittng on them now. Call me when you want them back.

I love that we can banter with our views. You have never made me mad and I hope I haven't you. It is fun and I have NOTHING compared to your CNN addiction and info overload. So, I just give my opinions and with the limited knowledge I have, will speak out when I feel I need to.

I will say after watching the debate, I think they kinda liked each other...

I love Hillary too. I'm still in mourning that she is not the candidate.

Having grown up in a Christian School system my whole life, all I can say is that I had to listen to that kind of rhetoric being spewed from my school too. So hateful, and innacurate. To tell you the truth, I'm kinda glad my kids arent' having to deal with it. I guess there is no thing as a perfect school.

You Are Awesome Tena!!!!!!
I finally put up a little something. And I'll probably write more later, it's just that my husband and I were playing a drinking game during the debate and that damn "McCain's a Maverick" kicked my ass.
I'm moving slo-o-ow today.
Maybe a Bloody Mary would help?;->

I went to St Xaviers (catholic) myself, but boy was I happy as a pig in shit to get outta there when high school came around. The nuns are brutal. My knuckles couldn't take much more. Oh sure, I could have just minded what they were telling me to do, but what the hell fun would that have been?

I completely forgot what I was going to say because I'm laughing so hard over the "McCain's a Maverick" drinking game. That could prove lethal!

I am the farthest thing from political, so I won't even try to discuss it on my blog or with anyone who is smarter than me, which pretty much is anyone, LOL But I will say this: whether I am for Obama or not, the statements that were being said about his wife & him...WTH?? I know I hear my kids coming home with things they've heard from friends and so forth, and I've done my best to correct them, and steer them in the direction of just being NICE...if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, right??

Congratulations on the weight loss! If you're looking for that lost weight, I've found it for your, and I'm keeping it nicely on my ass...so I've got it safe;) LOL I want to start running, I really do have a goal to run our local Gate River Run next year, but since I've done NOTHING in the terms of training, I'm not thinking that is going to happen in my world:(

Good luck with the whole school gig!

I like to stay away from Politics and Religion, raised Southern, Mom would shit if I talked about either subject. Kids say things their parents say, I work in a Catholic school and I hear all kinds of things... Love that you lost 4 pounds, I think they came my way!

OMG, I wish I had your e-mail address. Too much to share here!

And, Ann, what a weird coincidence! I had a debate hangover TOO!! I was the only one playing the game, however. :+)

Been too busy to post on the debate but I thought it was a little boring and almost spilled my cabernet when she said "Say it ain't so Joooooeee" (insert nasaly accent here). I hope the moderator of the next debate (Tom Brokaw?) gets things jumpin' a bit!!

Keep on running!

First time on your blog but certainly not the last. I went back and forth between Hillary and Obama but ended up leaning towards him. I just can't believe anyone is taking Palin seriously! Seriously?
Even in public schools we hear stupid shit about Obama ~ fortunately me kids know better and are quick to point it out.

Wowsers on the catholic school prices. Congrats on the weight loss.

And I too missed the debates... though for a totally unrelated reason... they didn't air here. Shocker, huh?
