The Drive

It was a long trip. We had good times and good weather. We had bad times and bad weather. I, honest to God, don't know where to begin.

Do I begin where I am the 'Road Trip Nazi' and do not allow bathroom stops unless someone's tears begin smelling of urine? Do I begin where I am a total control freak and drove the entire 12 hours there on my own because I didn't want my husband to mess up my seat and mirror settings? Or do I tell you how once I finally gave up a little control at hour 8 on the ride home (because I knew, in good conscience that I should not be operating a vehicle with my medication) that my husband would only drive 55 in a 70 and broke my cruise control? He's lucky that my meds kicked in and I fell asleep.

Or maybe I could mention how the video entertainment system in the car is a nice concept and all ...

but only goes so far...

and that they may want to improve it by running a non-stop IV of Benadryl into the children's arms...

just a thought.

You're a brave woman Tena. Either that or you're fucking crazy. I can barely drive to the grocery without my ONE kid aggravating the shit out of me.

Glad you're home safe a sound - and mentally in one piece, sort of.

You sound EXACTLY like me. Control issues and all. Only exception, I can be drugged, drunk and stoned and I still would not have fallen asleep. Can't do it. Gotta know what's going on. Gotta see the 18 wheeler that's gonna bring me to Jesus.
Traveling with kids is just the kind of thing to turn one into an alcoholic. Oooo, yeah, that's what I'll blame it on. :)

My sister used to give her kids children's benadryl. She used to tell them it was for car sickness.

So WHERE do I get this drug that gets you through a long trip?

I sooo need this! I am sickand tired of getting car sick bc I am climbing back and forth over suitcases and bags to get the lost pasicifier/adjust the vents/find the WALDO! Grrrrrrr.

I am also sick of getting to my favorite part of the song and hearing .....Moooooooom, he is TOUCHING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gimme those drugs!!!!

Long car rides with family just highlight the need for anti anxiety drugs. I cannot tell you how many times I have used Benadryl on the kids when they have had "runny noses".

I, like my father always did, will make somebody's eyeballs float before I'll make a pit stop.

It's a genetic flaw that really pisses my kids off sometimes.

I won't let my fella drive my truck either because by God the mirrors and seat are set for short lil me.

And yes, sedative drips are the wave of future family travel.

I'm glad you're back now!

IV Benadryl or colitas wafting through the vents. Sorry, I'm on a colitas roll now that I know what it is!

good times...I love remembering the good old days of Benedryl induced sleep...it's a lousy antihistamine, so it should be good for something, right?

Ha! Glad you made it! Those long car rides are brutal (but honestly, I have to say--I think my kids do better than I do!)

You're pics look awesome! You are gorgeous--can't believe you thought you had any weight to lose!

I am quoating you here "Do I begin where I am the 'Road Trip Nazi' and do not allow bathroom stops unless someone's tears begin smelling of urine?" I would die in a car with you! I have to stop at like every other rest stop!!! lol
