Friday Fragments

So here's my abbreviated, my head is spinning because I have so much going on version of Friday Fragments. Join with your little bits of this and that with Mrs. 4444 at Half Past Kissing Time.

*** Kids are officially done with school. I just got home from the Christmas party. I am the room mom for the 4th grader and was in charge of coordinating everything.

Parents volunteer to contribute items. I assigned items for them to bring. One mom forgot to bring her items in (12 small cans of Sprite). 3 E-mails, and two phone conversations where she insisted that she would bring them chilled with her to the party- must have slipped her mind!!! What's worse, she was there!!! As we scrambled to find extra Sprites or coerce the kids into wanting bottled water, "forgetful mom", just stood by and watched! No apology, no admission of early onset Alzheimer's- NOTHING!!! I would have been mortified and pleaded for her to forgive me- some people!!!

*** Driving the kids to school today- saw a woman driving in her car- alone- eating a bowl of cereal- WOW- that takes some talent!

***FUCKING COMPUTER VIRUS- need I say more?

*** New rule: no kid is allowed to yak(vomit, throw up, toss cookies) while I am baking Christmas cookies!!! It's just plain old gross and unappetizing! Cookies, anyone?

*** Why do I cry when other people receive stuff on TV? Example: Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways- I cry like a baby and get goose bumps when they get all this fab stuff- I should be crying because it's not me... BUT NOOOO, I'm happy for them, complete strangers, WTF? Sensitivity is a curse, I tell ya!

*** What's the deal with North Face? Are the zippers lined with 14K gold or something else I'm unaware of that affects the price? And why does every person in the universe wear these now? Please, I must know, what am I missing out on? I just bought one for my almost 14 year old son who is in desperate need of a coat. I couldn't bear the "Denail" price and went with the fleece- I'm still looking for cash in the pocket - why else would it be sooo expensive???

I cry when people get stuff, too. I can't help it! I just get so excited for them!

I noticed North Face wearing people all over Chicago in November. I've always seen it here and there, but EVERYONE had it on. If they are wearing it in Chicago, it must be warm.

North Face? I'm out of the loop. Probably because it's 75 in Dallas today.

Yeah, another week is done!

I'm with you on the forgetful mom. I would have crawled under the table if that had been me...or better..I would have just ran to the store and bought some!

Color me impressed!

I agree with Mimi, I would have headed back out to the store and got them. How could she just stand there like nothing. She should have at least given you an excuse.

North Face??? Totally worth it! My daughter got one a couple of years ago from my mom.... last year when the store we get them from had the big sale, we went and got her another and I got one too.... It's toasty warm at the spring soccer games with the wind WHIPPING!!! Love my North Face!!!

No idea on the North Face thing, though it is popular here, too.

Nice of you to be the organizing mom. I hate it when people don't carry their weight. Maybe she has something going on with her? Oh well, the kids will probably survive :)

My wife is the room mom. I laughed at first, but I end up being the room dad when she has things to do. Wha?

WTF is North Face???? See even I don't know what it or they are! And I know everything! lol

To the Sprite lady: Hell-oooo! Where the hell is the Sprite you were supposed to bring!? Go to the store and GET IT!

Sheesh.

I cry too when people get stuff. But I cry over everything.

Everyone wears North Face now? Hmm. I wasn't aware.

I had a list of stuff for every kid and I promptly turned it all over to the teachers- one day early! I did NOT want to be the one who forgot to send the party goodies - 40 packages of jacks, a tub of vanilla frosting, a pack of chocolate chips, a case of mini-water bottles, 2 bags of donuts, 24 granola bars, christmas plates and napkins, and a $5 boy gift. I am so glad thats over with.

I would be so angry with that mom who forgot her stuff... and I totally would have said something... I'm a bitch that way.

Love your fragmented mind Tena. Who was puking while you were baking? My 7 year old son had that last weekend. Blah.

Sprite mom? Totally passive aggressive or brain dead. Homeroom mom is so thankless. So I'll thank you on behalf of the clueless wonders.

I just asked my sister who has 3 teenage girls , "What is so special about North Face?" besides the price, of course. They are so ordinary looking. She said, "they're so comfy". I guess.
I think some teen idol or tv character must have started the trend. But I aslo don't get crocs or juicy couture so guess I"LL never come up with the next "big thing."

"I'm still looking for cash in the pockets."

You are freaking hysterical.

I am still laughing.

These are all very good points...I can't watch Extreme Makeover, it gets me every time.

I totally agree about NorthFace, I just looked at them yesterday in Macy's and couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a piece of fleece...geez.

My mom, who knows zero about trends and only shops for my kids at TJ Maxx said she had nothing good for my 11 year old. "All I could find was a jacket that says North Face on it at TJ's." I was all "God good, woman, you've hit the motherlode!"

Brittany said...

Ahhh...Northface. The official uniform of Ohio...along with worn jeans and Ugg boots.

No idea why they are so freaking expensive, but they last and are oh so warm and toasty!

North Face is big here too - and if people are wearing them in Arkansas - then it's probably been around Fo-Eva. LOL We're the last to wear all the "in" things.

No idea what the craze is about though.

I wish I had the "whatever" that allows you to stand there and not feel badly when I let someone or a room full of someones down! Can you say not responsible? I really don't understand how that works...but there are some people who just don't care!
